With a deep passion for assisting entrepreneurs, creatives, and musicians, Olivia Floyd has dedicated her legal career to bridging the gap between artistry and commerce. Coming from a background immersed in the complexities of intellectual property and entertainment law, she brings a sharp understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing both business owners and artists in today’s ever-evolving legal landscape.
Olivia earned her Bachelor of Science in Music Business from Middle Tennessee State University where she studied under industry professionals with firsthand experience in publishing, brand partnerships, and record contracts. Her studies provided her with a keen eye for identifying common contractual pitfalls—hidden clauses, restrictive agreements, and exploitative terms—that have long ensnared professionals across all industries. Drawing from historical case studies ranging from Jimi Hendrix’s management disputes to modern battles over masters and royalties exemplified by Taylor Swift, Olivia developed a deep understanding of industry trends and legal precedents. She further honed her expertise as a supplemental instructor for the History of Popular Music course, where she guided students through the legal and business decisions that have shaped the careers of some of the world’s biggest artists.
Olivia went on to earn her law degree from Belmont University College of Law, where she wrote for the Belmont Law Journal and gained hands-on experience through internships with CMG Worldwide—a firm representing the name, image, and likeness rights of cultural icons such as Malcolm X, Lou Gehrig, and James Dean—and the Digital Media Association, an organization advocating for major digital service providers like Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.
Olivia found an ideal fit for her legal skills and passion at The Bowen Firm, where she leads the music division and regularly handles matters related to copyright and trademark law, intellectual property, and a wide range of transactional work for creatives, entrepreneurs, and business owners. Whether assisting a multinational corporation, helping a family-owned business grow and protect its legacy, or guiding an independent artist in securing control over their career, Olivia is committed to providing the legal foundation for long-term success.
At The Bowen Firm, Olivia takes pride in delivering strategic counsel and personalized service, ensuring that every client—whether in entertainment, business, or beyond—has the confidence and legal protection needed to achieve and exceed their goals.
